 Centennial Organization

The organizational meeting to commemorate the 1975 Marne Centennial was held May 20, 1974 at the Town Hall with 55 people present. A Central Committee was elected at this meeting and the Marne Centennial Central Committee, Inc. was subsequently incorporated with Ben Cranston, President, Clyde McFadden, Vice President, Violet Kardell, Secretary and Helen Shahan, Treasurer. The Directors named were Opal Shahan, Jolene Corey, Mary Bierbaum, Merlyn Anderson and Bobby Reason. The Central Committee lost one of its active workers and the community was deeply saddened by the death of Mary Bierbaum on March 9, 1975. The Central Committee is owed an enormous debt of gratitude for its efforts culminating in the success of Marne's centennial observance.
