ROBERT H. WOODS was born in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, and lived there until age eleven, when his family moved to Monmouth, Illinois. In 1874, he moved to Cass County, Iowa, and located in the southwest quarter of Section 34 of Brighton Township, now the farm of Noel Waters. He sold this farm in 1881 and moved into Marne. In 1882 he became one of the original trustees of the Marne Presbyterian Church. He married Mollie Matthews in Monmouth, Illinois, on July 21, 1874, and as of 1884 the couple had two children - Alma and Archie. S. H. Woods, the younger brother of Robert H. Woods, also came to Brighton Township in 1874 and farmed here for many years on the old Kate Dwyer farm. S. H. Woods married Pauline Blackwood in Columbus, Ohio, on February 6, 1868. As of 1884, S. H. and Pauline Woods had two children, Robert H. and John S.
