ANTONE SORENSON was born in Sonderborg, Denmark in 1835. After emigrating to America, he moved to Cass County, Iowa, and settled here in 1873. He was a skillful bricklayer and masonry contractor both before and after settling at Marne. Antone Sorenson passed away here in 1923; his wife, Mary, died here in 1922 at the age of 79. Antone Sorenson was the father of six children - Chris, Pete, Tom, Tony and daughters Mary and Rickie. Tom and Tony Sorenson also followed their father's occupation as masonry contractors at Marne for many years prior to Tom Sorenson's death in 1949 and Tony Sorenson's death in 1956.
