Hugh McCutcheon, son of Mr. and Mrs. John McCutcheon was born at Barrhill, Ayrshire, Scotland January 28, 1860. He came to this country in 1883 settling first at Tama county, Iowa and came to Goldfield, Wright county in 1893. He was married to Eliza Keith at Traer in 1887. She passed away May 7, 1918. He married to Sarah Campbell in Scotland in June 1923. He was a member of the Goldfield Presbyterian church and was a man of sterling christian character. He leaves to mourn his loss, his widow, Mrs. Sarah McCutcheon, three brothers, William and Andrew of Goldfield, John of Scotland and two sisters, Jane and Anna of Scotland.

About two weeks ago friends at this place were informed that Hugh McCutcheon was ill at his home in Buffalo Center with typhoid fever. Until the day of his death, Friday, his condition was not considered serious. A complication that day resulted in his death before his brothers at this place could reach his bedside. The deceased had lived about thirty years at this place serving for many years as janitor of the public school building. He won the friendship of both the patrons and pupils by his faithful services. About three years ago he concluded his service in Goldfield, sold his home here and returned to Scotland, his native land spending a year there, returning the following summer accompanied by his bride an estimable lady. At this time he secured a position as janitor of Buffalo Center consolidated schools continuing there until so suddenly called by the death angel to the better land. Mrs. McCutcheon, the bereaved wife, has the heartfelt sympathy of many friends in this time of sorrow.

Funeral services were held Sunday morning at his home in Buffalo Center after which the remains were brought by auto route to Goldfield. The U. P. church of Goldfield was filled with the friends in this community who desired to show their last respect to their friend. The widow was not physically able to attend the services in Goldfield. Beautiful flowers covered the casket and grave. The remains were buried in the family lot in Glenwood cemetery. Rev. J. S. Nicholson conducted the funeral service. The undertaker from Buffalo Center accompanied the remains from that place.

***

Mr. and Mrs Arthur McCutcheon and Mr. and Mrs. John McGowan came up from Traer to attend the funeral services Sunday of their relative Hugh McCutcheon.
