William Svenson Toresdahl
19 October 1871 ---- 30 April 1945

William Toresdahl was born October 19, 1871, to the parents, Sven and Ingeborg Toresdahl, at Vas, pr [parish] Stavanger, Norway, and died at the Lutheran Hospital, Fort Dodge, Ia., Monday, April 30, 1945, at the age of 73 years, 6 months, and 11 days. He was baptized unto Christ, was taught the way of salvation in Christ, and confessed his Christian Faith in his youth.

In 1892 he came to America, to Eagle Grove, Iowa and lived in this community until his death. On November 26, 1902 he was united in marriage to Miss Olena Orsland. To this union one daughter, Irene, was born. She died August 30, 1933, at the age of 25 years. Mr. and Mrs. Toresdahl lived on their farm home near Eagle Grove until they retired into Eagle Grove some years ago, where Mrs. Toresdahl died January 8, 1943.

On July 3, 1944, Mr. Toresdahl was married to Mrs. Inger Helen Wiese, of Jewell, Iowa, who now with her son, Albert, of San Diego, California, survive him. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Olaf Midland of Eagle Grove, Iowa, and by one brother at Pipestone, Minn., and as far as is known, two sisters still in Norway. He is also survived by a large number of relatives and friends.

Mr. Toresdahl was an industrious man, a kind and loving husband and father, and a good neighbor. He was a man who exercised good judgment and therefore was highly respected by all who knew him. He was an active member of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church for many years. He served as a trustee for the church, and for a number of years as chairman of the board of trustees. He loved his Savior and church.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 3, from the home on North Jackson Ave. and from the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church. Burial was made in the family lot of the Rose Hill Cemetery.
