Lawrence Martin Johnson
21 April 1878 ---- 11 April 1944

Lawrence Martin Johnson was born April 21, 1878 to the parents, Andrew and Kari Johnson, near Newark, Illinois, and died at his home in Eagle Grove, Iowa, April 11, 1944 at the age of 66 years, 11 months, and 22 days.

He received the Christian Baptism, was taught the way of salvation in Christ, and confessed his Christian Faith in his youth.

He came with his parents to Iowa to the vicinity of Thor in 1885 and grew to manhood near Thor. He followed the occupation of a carpenter. On August 26, 1937 he was united in marriage to Miss Ollie Cowan. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson have lived in their home on North Commercial Avenue where he now passed away.

He is now survived by his wife, and by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Willie, and Johanna Johnson, and by three brothers, Jacob, Andrew and Olaus. His parents, both, passed away before him.

Mr. Johnson was a quiet, unassuming man, a kind and understanding husband, and a helpful neighbor. He was faithful and dependable in his work.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, April 14 from the Wilson Funeral home and from the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial was made in the Rose Hill cemetery.
