BELMOND – Bertha E. Kalkwarf, 87, of Belmond, died Tuesday (March 27, 1990) at the Belmond Care Center.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Belmond, with Rev. Bill Bentzinger and the Rev. Jim Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Belmond Cemetery. Visitation is after 1 p.m. today at Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond.

She was born July 30, 1902, in Belmond to William and Marie (Geitz) Gealow. She was baptized and confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church, Belmond.

She married Peter B. Kalkwarf on Sept. 6, 1922, in Belmond. They farmed in the Belmond area. He died in 1966. She had been a resident of the Belmond Care Center for the past 15 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Schmidt, Englewood, Colo., and Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Linn, Eagle Grove; one son, Bob Kalkwarf, Belmond; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Sandman and Mrs. Esther Quasdorf, both of Belmond; and one brother, Fred Gealow, Clarion. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother.
