BELMOND – Peter Kalkwarf, 68, died Sunday at Belmond Community Hospital following a long illness. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church here. The Rev. Leo Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Belmond Cemetery with Johnston Funeral Home in charge.

Born in Illinois Nov. 23, 1897, he had farmed in the Belmond area many years. He was married Sept. 6, 1922, to Bertha Gealow.

Surviving are his wife, a son, Robert, Belmond; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Schmidt, Holyoke, Colo.; Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Linn, Eagle Grove; three brothers, Dick, Bert and Ernest Kalkwarf, and a sister, Mrs. D. L. (Margaret) Pals, all of Belmond.
