John Heiden
2 March 1867 --- 26 April 1942

The funeral of John Heiden, who died at his home in Dows Sunday evening, April 26 after a long illness due to a stroke suffered on 09 Dec 1939, was held in the Halvorson Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon, April 28. The service was in charge of Rev. M. L. Blake, assisted by Rev. R. A. Brough. Many of the old friends and neighbors of the deceased were present at the service. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Interment was made in Fairview Cemetery.

John Heiden, son of William and Sophie Heiden, was born on March 2, 1867 at Watertown, Wisconsin where he grew to manhood. When he was 18 years old he came to Wright County, Iowa and engaged in farming. On September 18, 1889 he was united in marriage to Bertha Schroeder and settled on a farm near Galt where they lived until 1905 when he moved to the farm near Dows known as the Severe farm, and in 1914 they moved to Dows. His wife passed away March 8, 1938. He later was united in marriage to Mrs. Jennie Freese.

He is survived by one son and one daughter: Ben Heiden of Clarion and Charlotte, Mrs. Lloyd Golackson of Dows. One son, Frank, died when he was 14 years of age. He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Mr. Heiden was greatly liked by all who knew him. He was a good citizen, a good neighbor and loyal friend.
