Ole Iverson Berg
5 November 1860 --- 8 December 1943

Ole Berg was born in Olen parish in Sondhordland, Norway, on Nov. 5, 1860 and died at his home in Eagle Grove, Iowa, Dec. 8, 1943 at the age of 83 years, 1 month, and 3 days. He received the Christian baptism, was taught the way of salvation through Christ, and confessed his Christian Faith in his youth.

He came to America as a young man. On November 5, 1891 he was united in marriage to Miss Carrie Walker. Mr. and Mrs. Berg immediately moved to their farm home near Eagle Grove, where they lived until they retired into their present home in 1919, Where Mr. Berg now passed away.

He is now survived by his beloved wife, who shared the joys and sorrows of life with him for more than 52 years. He is also survived by one son, Edwin Berg of Eagle Grove, and by the daughters, Mrs. Sylvia Arthur, and Mrs. Ida Toresdahl, both of Eagle Grove, and by one adopted daughter, Mrs. Laurine Soppeland. Her husband for the time is stationed in California and she is with him. He is in the service of our country. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and by one great grandchild, and by a number of relatives and friends.

Mr. Berg was an unassuming man, very quiet, and peaceful in his conduct, a man who knew his duties and took well care of his affairs. His health had been failing for a number of years, but he bore his ailments patiently. He knew by a personal knowledge what it is to believe in Jesus Christ, and that conviction no doubt gave him the courage to bear his trials too. He was a kind husband and father, a good and peaceful neighbor. He was an active member of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church for more than 50 years. For a number of years, he had not been able to attend upon the public worship with the congregation. But he has appreciated the ministry of the Word, both by the pastor and by other friends who have called on him from time to time.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, Dec. 10 from the home and from the church. Burial was made in the family lot at Rose Hill cemetery.
