*****

A very distressing accident occurred at Dows last Saturday in which little Barbara Banwell, six-year old daughter of Arthur Banwell received injuries which resulted in her death a short time later.

The child was going to Irvin Knuths home to spend the day and was riding in a spring wagon which was tied behind a set of wagon gears. Jay Knuths was driving the team and stopped at Miller-Lampert Company on a business mission. He was absent but a few minutes and did not take time to tie his team. The horses started to walk away and several persons began shouting to stop them with the result being that the team became frightened and ran away. The spring wagon was struck against a tree at a corner and the little girl was thrown out and received a fractured skull. She was carried to a nearby home and a physician summoned but she passed away shortly after his arrival.
