8 October 1857 ---- 29 September 1939

Karl Pauling, 81, died at his home in this city Friday morning Sept. 29th. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Obituary

Karl Pauling, son of Henry Pauling and Sophia Rodwald, was born in Monee, Ill. Oct. 8, 1858. On his birthday Oct. 8, 1880, he married Caroline Schlottman and shortly afterward they moved to Minnesota where he went into the merchandising business. About 1907 they moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa.

Four daughters and one son were born to this union: Mrs. Arch McPhee of Kellogg, Mrs. Bert Hill of Des Moines, Mrs. Leona Hupe of Chicago, and Mrs. Harry Poske of Chicago. The son, Richard, preceded him in death in January 1930. There are six grandchildren, Mrs. Madelle Pederson of Cherokee, Mrs. Theresa Hodges of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Evelyn Stephens and Eleanor Pauling of Eagle Grove, Lane McPhee of Kellogg, and Norma Jeanne Hupe of Chicago, Ill. Other relatives are a daughter-in-law, Eleanor Pauling, and four great grandchildren.
