Obituary

Ole Hovey was born to the parents, Even and Mathen Have, near Lillehammer, in Gudbrandsdalen, Norway, August 20, 1860 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Christenson, near Eagle Grove, Sunday morning Feb. 6, 1938, at the age of 77 years, 5 months, and 17 days. He was baptized into Christ, received instruction, and confessed his Christian faith in his youth.

At the age of 19 years he came to America, to Flugstad, in Hamilton county, Iowa. He remained there for a number of o years, occupied at farming. In 1887 a larger group of people moved to Pocahontas county, Iowa, and Mr. Hovey moved with them, where he bought a farm home. And on Nov. 6, 1893 he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Anderson. Two little girls were born to this union, Winnie Mathea and Anna Maria. Mrs. Hovey died in 1896.

In 1909 Mr. Hovey and the two girls came to Wright county, where he bought his farm near Eagle Grove, and has lived on that place until his death. He is now survived by his two daughters, Mrs. James Christenson, and Mrs. Arthur Johnson of Duncombe, Iowa, and by four grandchildren.

Mr. Hovey was a kindhearted man, very industrious, and dependable. He was a good neighbor, quiet and peace loving. A kind father. He loved the Saviour and his church dearly. He supported it gladly and was a faithful worshiper as long as he was able. For some time, his health has gradually failed him. He sought good medical help, but not much could be done for him. He bore his sufferings heroically. God bless his memory.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 8th and burial was made in the family lot at Rose Hill cemetery.
