Bessie Hilada Helgevold Johnson
26 October 1902 ---- 17 October 1988

Bessie Helgevold was born on October 26,1902, the daughter of Hans and Boletti Louise Stensland Helgevold, at Eagle Grove, Ia. She attended the Eagle Grove schools.

She was united in marriage to Myron L. Johnson. Mr. Johnson passed away in 1973.

Bessie was employed at the Wright County Courthouse as Clerk of Court for twenty years.

Bessie Johnson passed away on October 17, 1988, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove, Ia., at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 21 days.

Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte (Mrs. Dr. James) Wright of Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers, Carroll Helgevold and Joseph Helgevold of Ayrshire, Ia.; one sister, Thelma (Mrs. Anton) Boer of Duncanville, Tex., and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Myron; one daughter, Phyllis Tryhus; three brothers, Bert, Art and Howard; two sisters, Rose Fitzgerald and Bernice Henderson.

She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove and Adah Chapter 136 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Eagle Grove.

Funeral services for Bessie Johnson were held on October 20, 1988 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove, Ia. The Rev. Paul Schaedig officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
