Omer Ebert Askvig, the son of Ole and Martha Wigan Askvig, was born on July 20, 1909 at Goldfield, Iowa. He grew up and attended the area schools. During his life, he had famed near Goldfield and later was employed by the Chicago, Northwestern Railroad and lived in Boone, Iowa. He was never married. He had been a resident of the Hamilton County Care Center for the past several years. He died at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa on Monday, Nov. 15, 1982 at the age of 73 years, three months and 25 days.

He is survived by a sister, Sarah Robb of Webster City; a brother, Bert Askvig of Boone, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Carrie Askvig of Eagle Grove and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mabel McKay and Ida Askvig and two brothers, Lester and Tillman.

Funeral services for Omer E. Askvig, were held on Thursday, Nov. 18, 1982 at 2:30 p.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Rev. Thomas Jolivette officiated and burial was in the Holmes Lutheran Cemetery near Holmes.
