Lena Janette Mathis, the daughter of Herman and Louise (Anderson) Anderson, was born on January 11, 1911, along with her twin brother, Leonard Elmer, at the family's homestead in Seibert, Colorado. As a young child, they returned to Iowa and she was raised and educated in Goldfield. Lena passed away on June 27, 2013, at the age of 102 years. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Martha Anderson of Cedar Falls; 3 grandsons: Steve, Jim and John Anderson and 5 great-grandchildren. No services will be held. Lena's wishes were to have her body donated to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City for medical research.
