James “Jim” R. McBride, age 83, of Battle Creek, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the Odebolt Specialty Care of Odebolt, Iowa.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2024, with visitation held prior from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Danbury, Iowa. Father William A. McCarthy will officiate. Interment will follow in the Danbury Catholic Cemetery of Danbury, Iowa.

James Robert “Jim” McBride, was born on March 3, 1941, in Battle Creek, Iowa. He was the second child of six children born to Walter and Mary (Oberreuter) McBride. Jim grew up on the family farm east of Danbury, Iowa. He received his elementary education at St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Danbury Catholic High School with the class of 1959.

After graduation, Jim continued to help with the family farm working alongside his father Walter. On February 9, 1963, Jim married the love of his life, Yvonne M. Welte, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Danbury. The couple first settled in the little house on the family farm before purchasing and relocating to a farm west of Battle Creek.

In 1969, Jim began a career selling life and health insurance. With a passion for helping folks with their insurance, he inspired and instilled excellent salesmanship and hard work ethic into his four children: Tracey, Robert “Rob”, Lisa, and Gina. Jim continued to sell insurance up until 2023.

A faithful Christian, Jim was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Danbury and served as a 4th degree knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Jim cherished every moment spent with his family. Jim enjoyed attending all of his children’s and grandchildren’s events and dancing with is wife Yvonne.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Yvonne McBride of Battle Creek, IA; children Tracey (Deron) Schmidt of Battle Creek, IA, Lisa McBride of Sarasota, FL, Robert “Rob” (Stephanie Davis) McBride of Sioux City, IA and Gina (Pete) Kuehner of Pheonix, AZ; grandchildren Dylan (Tiffany) Schmidt, Shelby (Brad) Siebersma, Lindsey (fiancé Nick) McBride, Sydney (Mitch) Davis, Bailey (Gabbie) McBride, Lauren (Frank) Turk, Blake (Gina) Kuehner, Carson Davis, and Ellie Davis; great grandchildren Cade, Taytum, Tucker, Bronx, Boston, James, Harper, Sutton, and Chloe; siblings Beverly (Loren) Moser of La Mesa, CA, Tom (Diane) McBride of Danbury, IA, Bill (Lisa) McBride of Sioux City, IA, Jerry (Babe) McBride of Danbury, IA and Rick (Marcene) McBride of Danbury, IA; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Mary McBride; and granddaughter Shaina Schmidt.
