Death of Early Day Resident
At Silverton, Oregon, on Tuesday of last week, March 31st, Bernt R. Bentson, merchant and city treasurer, dropped dead from heart disease. Early day residents of Decorah will recall Mr. Bentson as a brick mason employed by Wilson & Arboe. He left here about forty years ago, going to South Dakota. The clipping which brings this information states that he came to America in 1865 and was married in Decorah in 1875 to Miss Lena Erickson. Ten children were born to them and all are living. His wife also survives. Mr. Bentson had been a resident of Silverton for the past thirteen eyars and was engaged in general merchandising, three of his sons being associated with him in business.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born in 1848 and is buried in Valley View Cemetery in Silverton, OR.
