John Stoskopf, Sr., Dead.
From the Hoisington (Kas.) Dispatch we learn that John Stoskopf, Sr., died on Friday, March 27, after an illness of two days that baffled the efforts of the local physicians. Mr. Stoskopf was born at Stratford, Ontario, Sept. 29th, 1849, and came to Decorah with his parents at the age of fourteen eyars. He was married on December 29th, 1875, to Christine Malli and in March, 1879, moved to Barton county, Kansas, where he has since resided, Beside his wife he is survived by seven sons and four daughters, six brothers and four sisters. Among the latter are Mrs. Katie Barth of Decorah and Valentine and Wm. Stoskopf residing near Decorah. The fact that he had prospered in his Kansas home is shown by his connection with the Farmers & Merchants bank at Claflin and the First National bank of Great Bend. He was a prominent member of the Masonic fraternity and of the Woodmen. The account from which these facts are gleaned speaks of Mr. Stoskopf as one of the best citizen of Barton county.
