Mrs. Jacob Jewell Dead.
On Monday morning at the home of her son Frank Jewell, north of Decorah, Mrs. Jacob Jewell, mother of B. E., John A. and Frank Jewell, passed away suddenly. She arose at the usual hour, dressed, and was sitting on a sofa when suddenly she fell over, death being instantaneous. Mrs. Jewell’s maiden name was Emily Headington. Her marriage occurred on February 27, 1849, in Knox county, Ohio. In 186{?} she came to Iowa with her husband and family and in 1874 located on the farm north of Decorah which has been known for the succeeding years as the Jewell place. She was born May 8, 1826, hence was in her 88th year at the time of her death. Beside the surviving sons two others, --Thomas and James—died in their youth. Mrs. Jewell was a home loving body, devoted to her family and their best interest, a good neighbor, and kind hearted to all who came within her sphere.Transcriber’s Note: Russell Cemetery records show she died Jan. 5, 1914.
