OBITUARY
Mrs. Anna Barbara Haug, wife of Mr. J. J. Haug, passed away Wednesday morning, April 3, 1918, at 3:30 o’clock at the family home, after an illness of several years. The cause of her death was acute dilation of the heart. The deceased was 86 years, 4 months and 29 days old and was born at Weinigen, Canton Zurich, Switzerland, November 5, 1831. She received her education in the public schools of Switzerland. Her maiden name was Miss Anna Barbara Benz. She came to Winneshiek County in 1855, living here continually until death claimed her. Mrs. Haug was first united in marriage with Mr. Meyer who only lived two years with his wife when death claimed him. In 1859, October 13th, in Winneshiek County, she was united in marriage with Mr. J. J. Haug. To this union three children were born, Charles, Bertha and Louise, all whom preceded their mother in death. She leaves to mourn her departure, her devoted, aged husband, one grandchild, Mrs. Geo. Wilson, and two great-grandchildren, Gaylor and Nina Wilson, of Milwaukee, and also two sisters who live in Switzerland. The funeral was held at the home on Saturday, April 6th, at 12 o’clock. Rev. F. C. Scherff, of New Hampton, officiating. Interment was made in the Haug Cemetery about a half of a mile west of town. The pall bearers were Carl Haug, G. F. Heuser, Robert Heuser, G. A. Meyer, Herman Scheller and Henry Leuenberger.

It is sad that one we cherish
Should be taken from our home,
But the joys that do not perish
Live in memory alone.
All the years we’ve spent together,
All the happy, golden hours,
Shall be cherished in remembrance,
Fragrant sweets from memory’s flowers.

CARD OF THANKS.
We extend our heartful thanks to friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us during the illness and death of my wife and grandmother and also for the beautiful floral offerings.
J. J. Haug
