Jacob Leidahl, former resident of Winneshiek County, died Sunday July 8, at the Sioux Rapids Hospital after suffering a heart attack on the previous day.
Jacob H Leidahl was born March 29, 1875, on a farm near Decorah, and passed away July 8, 1956, at the age of 81 years. He was the youngest of 10 children of Hans and Greta Jensen Leidahl.
He spent his childhood and youth near Decorah and was baptized in the Big Canoe Lutheran Church. He was confirmed in 1890 by Pastor H.A. Stub in the same church.
In 1898 he was united in marriage to Anna Morn at Hatton, N.D. To this union four children were born: George, Hazel (Mrs. Albert Nesteby), Mrs. Alice Foss, and Guy, all of Decorah. His wife and son George preceded him in death.
On May 14, 1914, he was united in marriage to Laura Ingethia Landsness in Sioux Rapids. To this union three children were born: Violet (Mrs. Milton Hubbard, Albert City, Gordon and Richard, Sioux Rapids.
With the exception of short residences in Minnesota and Winneshiek County, the remainder of his life was spent farming near Sioux Rapids until 1942 when re retired and moved into town.
Those attending the funeral from the Decorah vicinity were: Mr. and Mrs. Guy Leidahl and Delores, Mrs. Donald Evenrud, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nestby, Darlene and Donald, Mrs. Alice Foss, Herbert Leidahl, Mrs James Gulbro, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Hanson, Mrs. Alice Thompson, Clifford Ellingson, James Hanson, Henry Hanson, Raymond Hanson and Hattie Hanson.
