Word came last week from Richland, Mo., telling of the death of John Akers, an old resident of this place. We extend our sympathy to them in their sad bereavement.

Word was received by Mrs. Charley Burgiss by telegram last Thursday that John Akers of Richland, Mo., died on Wednesday evening at nine o’clock. He will be remembered by many people of Winneshiek county as he was a resident of Decorah and Bluffton for many years. He was a Mason, having been a member of that lodge over forty years.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Dec. 30, 1830 and died Jan. 10, 1912. He is buried in Oaklawn Cemetery in Richland, MO.
