Ellan,
Thank you for your reply. I do know about Newton and family in the 1880 census. My problem comes from tracing him after that time. That was why I was thrilled to see him in the Ottumwa 1910 census. My theory why We/I can't find him in the 1900 census is from transcribing his name wrong. AT least that is what I am hoping and have to figure out how to find him that way. My biggest problem is knowing where he died and where he is buried. He did die 15 Oct 1918. From that date I am assuming again he might have died from the flu epidemic of the time.
