FIRST OF ALL, NONE OF THESE PEOPLE ARE RELATED TO ME EITHER BY MARRIAGE OR BLOOD.

I am dumping this information here for any of you who are interested in these people and their lives.

"The Independent" (Oskaloosa, Kansas, dated January 31, 1863)

DIED---In Chillicothe, Wapello County, Iowa, Dec. 25, 1862, WAREHAM GIBBS, in the 73d year of his age.

He was born in the State of Vermont. He emigrated with his parents first to Pennsylvania, thence to Athens county, Ohio, where he resided until the year 1847, when he removed to this county. His last sickness was both lingering and painful, yet he bore all with Christian patience. He was remarkable for his deep humility. When the writer a few days before his death asked what he desired him to say to his friends after his decease, he replied: "Tell them I am a sinner saved by Grace." His end was peaceful and serene. May God help his children to meet him in Heaven. W.A. Nye.

Chillicothe, Iowa, Jan. 15th, 1863.

From 'The Iola Register' (Iola, Kansas, dated April 6, 1878).

At Chillicothe, Iowa, on the 29th, Matthew Burns, a farmer living near town, drove into the village, put his team in a stable, and taking his ax over his shoulder, went where George N. Bullin, an old resident and highly respected citizen, was at work on the foundation of a building, and, without saying a word, struck Bullin on the head with the ax and ran away. Twenty minutes later Burns was found in the barn where he left his team, hanging by the neck. Bullin's injuries were fatal. The cause of the act is supposed to be a dispute about the division of a fence.

A person contacted me looking for information about Orange and Mary (Knight) Hampton. Later (that was back in 2009, though) I sent reply to her but she never answered back so I am leaving this information for all to see.
