William F Davis, b. 1825 KY, d. Wapello, IA, 1857

Greetings, I know that my greatx3-grandfather, William F Davis, died in Wapello County and his gravestone rests at Ashland Cemetery. Although I know these tidbits about him, I would be interested in knowing more, specifically who his parents were, the nature of his early death, anything about him as a "teacher," as reported on the 1850 census.

To further help others identify him, I can add that he married Catherine Clodfelter in Greencastle, Putnam IN, 2 Apr 1846 and that they had 5 daughters, Elizabeth (b.1846), Louisa (b.1848), Sarah J (b.1850), Minerva (b.1852) and Amanda (b.1855). I also added a link to his FIND A GRAVE memorial.

I'm also interested in how/why he and Catherine moved from Indiana to Iowa and if he was teaching in Wapello County and where. Any information is warmly appreciated. -Kecia
