I have not been able to track down the marriage you asked for, but will give you some other places to look. According to the 1900 and 1910 Census, Cleveland was living with his parents in the city of Washington, Washington County, Iowa. Those census gave the following information:
C. Elrod Dayton, head, born Dec. 1858, Iowa
Eliza Ellen Dayton, wife, born Feb 1861, Iowa
Cleveland Dayton, son, born Aug 1885, Iowa
Earl Dayton, son, born Oct 1888, Iowa
Thelma (?) Dayton, dau, born Dec 1896, IowaAccording to the WPA records for Washington County, Eliza died in 1916 and is buried with Elrod in the Brighton Cemetery. There is no death date listed for Elrod. The inscriptions on the Elrod and Eliza's stones do not agree with the census. The stones say that Elrod was born in 1859 and Eliza in 1860.
Earl died on 26 Feb 1932 is also buried in Brighton Cemetery.
I checked the 1880 census and found that Elrod was was living with his parents in Keota, Keokuk County, Iowa as follows:
Hiram T. Dayton, head, born abt 1825 in Maryland
Sarah E. Dayton, wife, born abt 1834 in Virginia
Elrod Dayton, son, born abt 1859 in IowaI have reason to believe that Hiram was born in Allegheny County, Md and may have come to Iowa in the late 1850s. Hiram died on 21 May 1895 and is buried in the Keota Cemetery with Sarah who died on 21 Aug 1885.
So with all that, it is possible that Cleveland was married in either Washington, Keokuk, Jefferson, or Wapello counties. I have a CD with the early marriages of Iowa and none of these Dayton family members show up on it. There are, however, tons of Dayton marriages in both Washington and Keokuk counties and a few in Wapello.
