I'm not sure, but the story is he was adopted! The story was his parents were German and remained in Germany, he came at age 3 and was adopted when his parents were killed in Germany before they could get out. He lived in Cerro Gordo County Iowa most of his life and also in Greely Colorado census in 1910. My grandmother was born inVentura IA in 1915. His birthdate was Sept.1888 died Mar. 1971.
