William Pech, 73, Algona, died Sunday at Mercy Hospital in Mason City.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church in Algona with the Rev. Gerald Hartz officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery at Algona.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille, son, Robert W., Emmetsburg; daughters, Connie Barker, Poplar Grove, Ill., Bonnie Schooler, Carlisle; nine grandchildren; brothers, Theodore Marion, John and David, both of Fairfield, Louis, Fallbrook, Calif., Warren, Keosauqua; sisters, Carrie Shelangoski, East Moline, Ill., and Dorothy Short, Cantril.
He was born in Warren, Minn., and attended school in Batavia and Fairfield, graduating from Keosauqua High School. He did farm work for a while before attending trade school for automotive mechanics in Kansas City, Mo. He then moved to Algona and worked for Percival Motors for seven years. In 1955, he moved to Swea City and operated Pech Motors until his retirement in 1980. He moved back to Algona in 1981.
He was a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus, a past member of the Golden K, Kiwanis, and a member of the River Road Golf Club.
