Nadine Heemsbergen

Phyllis Nadine Heemsbergen, 58, of Selma died April 16, 1989, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

She was born Jan. 10. 1931, in Moravia to Cecil and Gladys Harsh Parcel. She had lived in Sigourney and moved to rural Selma in 1965. She was a member of Juanto Rebekah Lodge no. 250 of Selma, Home Circle Club of Selma and Hayesville Community Church. She married Gerritt Heemsbergen on Sept. 5, 1948.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Cheryl Thrasher of Lake in the Hills, Ill.; four sons, Dan of Ottumwa, Route 1, David and Curtis of Selma and Craig of Bloomfield; 12 grandchildren; and a brother, Duane Parcel of Hickory Hills, Ill.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gary.

The service was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 20 at the United Methodist church in Selma, the Revs. David Albert and Stephen Metcalf-Conte officiating. Burial with Rebekah services will be in Bethleham Cemetery southeast of Eldon.

Memorials have been established to the Cancer Society or the Selma Methodist Church.

Campbell Funeral Home of Eldon was in charge of arrangements.
