Gladys Muntz

Gladys Muntz, 76, formerly of Farmington, died at 5:38 p.m. Friday, May 26, 1989 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Keosauqua.

Born November 1, 1912 (near) Athens, Missouri she was the daughter of Thomas and Nellie Dorothy Lowery. The family moved to a farm three miles west Farmington when Gladys was a young child. She attended the White Oak rural school.

She married Kenneth Muntz of Pink Prairie Farm, rural Farmington, at Farmington, on December 25, 1929. He died December 21, 1973. (she) moved from Farmington to Fairfield in 1975.

She was a former employee of the Parsons College bookstore and was a member of the Fairfield First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are one son, Hilton Muntz, Roscommon, Michigan; one daughter, Mrs. Nellie (Gerald) Swygard, Fairfield; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Mabel (Gene) Medaris, Farmington.

A graveside service for Mrs. Muntz was held Monday, May 29, 1989 at Steinmeyer Cemetery, Farmington with the Reverend Richard Wallarab officiating.

Memorials have been established for the Farmington Library and the Fairfield Presbyterian Church.

Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington was in charge of arrangements.
