Ethel Margaret Easter

Ethel M. Easter, 84, of the Mayflower Home, Grinnell, Iowa died on Friday, February 3, 1989 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

She was the daughter of Henry J. and Rebecca Morgan Easter and was born on May 27, 1904 near Bonaparte, Iowa.

She was a graduate of Bonaparte High School and attended Iowa State University and the Chicago Musical College before receiving her BA degree from the University of Iowa. She later received a MA degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City.

Miss Easter began her teaching career as a music teacher in Scotland, South Dakota. For over 38 years she taught in New Castle, Delaware before retiring and moving to the Mayflower Home, Grinnell, Iowa in 1976.

She was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, the Soroptimist Club, the DAR, the Magnolia Chapter DAR, the Magnolia Chapter #276 of the Order of Eastern Star at Bonaparte and the national and state retired teachers associations.

She is survived by her brother, Albert F. Easter of Vinton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her sister, Georgia Ray Delaney.

Memorial services were held on Monday, February 6, 1989 in Denison Chapel of the Mayflower Home in Grinnell with the Reverend Raymond Lott, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Inurnment was in Vale Cemetery near Bonaparte.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made in her name to the donors choice and may be sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Bo 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.
