Lawrence R. White

Lawrence R. White, son of John and Eva Vale White, was born December 17, 1915 at Shelby, Iowa and died the afternoon of Thursday, March 30, 1989 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, at the age of 73. He graduated from Sigourney High School, farmed and was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service at Sigourney. From 1959 until his retirement in 1980 he was a Soil Conservation Technician with the Van Buren Soil Conservation Service in Keosauqua. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and was a member of Keosauqua Christian Church, Beer-Barker Post No. 113, American Legion, Keosauqua, the River View Club, Keosauqua Lions Club and the Elks Lodge at Fairfield.

Lawrence married Luella Tinnes April 12, 1941 at Sigourney.

Surviving are his wife, their son, David and his wife, Cindy of Corydon, their two daughters, Barbara Plotz and her husband, Larry of Cedar Rapids and Betty Velock of Des Moines, three grandchildren, Miranda, Melissa and Joshua White, a brother, Lloyd of Sigourney, other relatives and friends.

An infant sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 2, 1989 at 2 P.M. in the Keosauqua Christian Church with Rev. Bob Patterson and Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Interment was in Purdom Cemetery, Keosauqua, Keosauqua, with military rites by Beer-Barker Post 113, American Legion, Keosauqua. A memorial was established.
