LaRue Ruble

LaRue Ruble, daughter of Eugene and Jessie Sallady Downing, was born August 24, 1899 at Troy and died Friday morning, June 2, 1989 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, at the age of 89.

She grew up in Davis and Van Buren counties, lived many years on a farm west of Douds and moved to town in 1971.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Twin City Chapter No. 258, Order of Eastern Star, all at Douds.

She married Clyde J. Ruble February 15, 1916 at Ottumwa. He died in 1972.

Surviving are three sons, Clyde, Jr. of Copan, Oklahoma, Maurice of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Jack of Ottumwa; two daughters, Kathleen Crist, Estes Park, Colorado and Patricia Towles, Independence, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A son, Marvin, two half-sisters and a half-brother preceded her in death.
