Helen Umphrey

Helen May Umphrey, 82, of Birmingham died Aug. 14, 1989, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

She was born April 28, 1907, near West Point to Bert A. and Harriett Thompson Randell. She was a resident of the Keosauqua and Birmingham area most of her life. She married Robert L. Umphrey on Sept. 17, 1924 in Keosauqua.

She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Dorothy Tisdale of Milton, Ruth Dodds of Fairfield, Janet Hagaman of Stockport; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray Randell of Keosauqua; and a sister, Grace Randall of Keosauqua.

The service was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham, the Rev. Phil Campbell officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to Birmingham Fire Department.
