W. Pitt Johnston

W. Pitt Johnston, 98, of Birmingham died June 7, 1989, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

He was born Dec. 1, 1890, near Birmingham to William and Minnie Wiley Johnston. A resident of the Birmingham area most of his life, he was a farmer. He lived for a few years on a farm near Eldon. He had lived at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield since Aug. 31, 1984. He was a member of Birmingham Presbyterian Church, Van Buren County Historical Society and was a former member of Birmingham Lions Club. He married Thelma Byers on April 18, 1934, in Sigourney.

He is survived by his wife.

The service was held on June 10, 1989 at 2 p.m. at the Birmingham Presbyterian Church, the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the Birmingham Presbyterian Church.

Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birminggham was in charge of arrangements.
