Leo R. Nelson

Leo R. Nelson, 93, Bonaparte, died at 5:10 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 1989 at the Good Samaritan Home in Keosauqua.

Mr. Nelson was born March 30, 1896 at Canton, Illinois. He was a retired farmer. He moved from rural Farmington to Bonaparte in 1984. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the American Legion.

On February 14, 1923 at Mt. Pleasant, he married Pansy Miller, who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Clay (Hazelle) Lanman, Keosauqua, Mrs. Norris (Dorothy) Watson, Bonaparte, and Mrs. Herman (Mary Lou) Lydolph, Bellevue, Nebraska; a sister, Hazel Peters, Hampton, Illinois; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, a sister and three grandchildren. His parents were David and Ella Moran Nelson.

Services were held at the Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington, Tuesday, October 17, 1989 with Robert Hambright officiating. Burial was in the Bonaparte Cemetery.

A memorial is being established with the Bonaparte First Responders. Contributions may be made at the funeral home.
