Sylvia Hufford

Sylvia Hufford, 75, Burlington, a former resident of Fairfield, died at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 1989 at St. Francis Hospital, Burlington.

Mrs. Hufford was born April 5, 1914 in Lee County, to Samuel and Helen Mae Susanpollard(err?) Anthony. She lived her early life there and was a 1931 graduate of Farmington High School. She was a school teacher in Lee County and later moved to Fairfield where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

On November 26, 1937 at Memphis, Missouri, she was married to Isom Hufford who preceded her in death.

Surviving are a son, John Hufford of Oregon; two daughters, Judith Hamilton, Oskaloosa and Helen Hotchkin, Wever, three sisters, Edna Bowers, For Madison and Mabel Anderson and Garnet Saar, both of Keokuk; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, September 19, 1989 at Greenglade Cemetery, Farmington. The Reverend BonifacioMequi officiated.

Memorials have been established with the United Methodist (Church) and the Fairfield Public Library.
