Harold Gardner

Harold T. Gardner, 74, of Davenport, died at 11:30 a.m. January 10, 1988 at St. Luke's Hospital in Davenport.

He was born February 20, 1913 in Stockport to Guy and Ethel Huff Gardner. He moved to Davenport in 1955 and was the postmaster until retirement in 1973. He had worked for 35 years for the United States Postal Department and was a farmer. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Davenport and the Kiwanis Club in Rock Island, Illinois and the National Postal Associations. He married Ardythe V. Knowles on February 19, 1929 in Kahoka, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Gary of St. Joseph, Missouri, Brad of Davenport and Scott of Edmond, Oklahoma; a daughter, Harolyn (Carolyn?) Bormann of Davenport; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The service was held Wednesday, January 13, 1988 at Stockport United Methodist Church with Reverend Shirley Rozendaal officiating. Burial was in Spencer Cemetery in Stockport.

Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield was in charge of arrangements.
