Carroll D. Farrell

Carroll D. Farrell, 61, Route 1, Farmington, died of an apparent heart ailment at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 30, at his home. He had been in failing health 13 years, but death was unexpected.

Mr. Farrell was born May 25, 1927, at Keokuk. He worked or the Santa Fe Railway 14 years. He later was a correctional officer at the Iowa State Penitentiary for 13 years and worked at the former John H. Breck plant in Fort Madison for six years before retiring because of health. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Farmington American Legion Post.

On Sept. 19, 1945, in Fort Madison, he married Ruth Bishop, who survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Ressie Crosley Farrell, Lakewood, Colo.; four sons, Eugene and Kevin, both of St. Louis, Michael of California and Larry of Burlington; a brother, Thomas Farrell, Carman, Ill.; a sister, Bonnie Balding, Lakewood; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Farrell, a son and a daughter.

The body is at the King-Lynk Funeral Home in Fort Madison where services will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Robert McAleer will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison.

Friends may call after noon Thursday at the King-Lynk Funeral Home where the family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

A memorial is being established. Contributions may be made at the King-Lynk Funeral Home.
