Jim D. Miller

Jim D. Miller, 49, Hillsboro, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1987, of an apparent heart attack at his home.

Born June 1, 1938, in Hillsboro, he was the son of Kenneth and Viola Hawk Miller. He married Carol Sprott. He later married Mary Ann Smith.

Mr. Miller was a lifetime resident of the Hillboro area. He was a farmer and worked at the Christamore House, Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of the former Big Mound Methodist Church, Hillsboro, Belmont Lodge No. 541, Hillsboro, and Hillsboro American Legion and the U.S. Army Reserves for 20 years.

Surviving are two sons, Scott Miller, Perry, and Michael Miller, Des Moines; two daughters, Mrs. Lorie (Michael) McMillen, Salem; and Mrs. Patricia (Ed) Crews, Hillsboro; his parents, Hillsboro; and 11 grandchildren.

His grandparents preceded him in death.

Friends may call as they desire at the Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington, where Masonic rites will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at the Farmington United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Rozendaal officiating. Burial will be in Hillsboro Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Christamore House, Mt. Pleasant.
