Helen H. Dowling

Helen H. Dowling, daughter of Charles B. and Julia Todd Heald, was born August 4, 1901 in Scotland County, Mo. south of Mt. Sterling, Iowa and departed this life the afternoon of Saturday, Oct. 17, 1987 in Richey Manor Nursing Home, New Port Richey, Florida at the age of 86.

She grew up in the Mt. Sterling community and lived many years in Chicago, Ill. where she was employed at Marshall Field and Co., and retired to Pinellas Park, Florida.

Mrs. Dowling was a member of the Catholic Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Early in life she married James Young, who died many years ago.

On June 1, 1936 she married John J. Dowling in Chicago.

Surviving are her husband, two sons, John Downing(Dowling), Jr. of Torrence, Calif. and David Dowling, Rochester, Ill., a sister, Dorothy Sullivan, Keosauqua, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Three brothers, Russell, Raymond and Howard Heald and two half sisters, Maude McElroy and Marjorie Curry preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 23, 1987 at 10 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Rev. Gregory Steckel of St. Boniface Church in Farmington officiating. Interment was in Harness Cemetery, Mt. Sterling. A memorial was established for the Heart Fund and gifts may be left at the funeral home.
