Viola P. Henry

Viola Pearl Henry, daughter of John and Mary Winney Riedel, was born July 20, 1912 in Davis County and departed this life the evening of Tuesday, October 20, 1987 in the emergency room of Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, following a heart attack at her home south of Keosauqua.

She attended school at Troy and Floris, Iowa and Revere, Missouri. At an early age, she joined the Peaksville Christian Church in Missouri and later became a member of the Center Chapel United Methodist Church near Keosauqua. She was a member of the Center Chapel United Methodist Women and Magnolia Chapter, Order of Eastern Star at Bonaparte. She had been employed at the Davis Nursing Home in Keosauqua.

On July 20, 1935, she married Darrell W. Henry at Keosauqua.

Surviving are her husband, Darrell; two daughters, Donna Miller of Memphis, Missouri and Darla Davidson of Agency; two sons, Donald of Wichita, Kansas and Duane of Eldon. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two sisters, Inez Toops of Wapello and Pauline Beard of Revere, Missouri.

Her parents, two brothers, a sister and a grandson preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 24, 1987 at 10:30 a.m. in the Center Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Don Morrison officiating. Eastern Star services were held Friday evening at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua. Interment was in Center Chapel Cemetery. Memorials were established for the Center Chapel Church and the Heart Fund.
