Earl Roberts

Earl S. "Hickory" Roberts, 73, of rural Douds died May 11, 1995 at the Davis County Hospital.

He was born April 10, 1922 in Davis County to Louie A. and Clara Vaughn Roberts. He married Iva Dell Law April 1, 1950 in Centerville.

He had been a lifetime resident of Davis County. He was a farmer and owned and operated the Troy Store for 11 years.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Dennis of Eldon, Jerry of Des Moines, and Michael "Goldie" of Bloomfield; one daughter, Carol Coatney of Troy; five grandchildren and four brothers, Alva of Ottumwa, Marvin of Keosauqua, Johnie of Floris and Ottis of Mt. Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Erma Comer.

The body has been cremated. Graveside services will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established to the Troy Historical Society and may be left at the Wagler Funeral Home.
