ERMA R. LAUGHLIN

Mrs. Erman R. Laughlin, daughter of George N. (and Mary Ellen) McBcBride Loomis, was born December 25, 1914 near Pittsburg in Van Buren County and departed this life Monday, May 28, 1979 at University Hospital Iowa City at the age of 64.

She attended school in Eldon. She married Ray Galey in 1932. On November 23, 1952, she married James Laughlin in Ottumwa. They lived in Eldon until moving to Douds in 1969.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her widower; two daughters Mrs. Arleta overby of Ottumwa, Iowa, Mrs. Karen Bottger of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; one step-daughter, Mrs. Twila Bonar, St. Joseph, Missouri, two step-sons Forrest Laughlin of Eldon and Addis Laughlin of St. Joseph, Missouri; six grandchildren nine step-grandchildren and five step great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Erma will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, a good neighbor and friend.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 30, 1979 at the Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds with the Rev. Richard Friend officiating. Mrs. Marilyn Downing was pianist, vocalists Mrs. Gladys Fite and Mrs. Melva McClure. Pallbearers, Harry Thomas, Fred Salters, George Noel, Henry Plowman, Theodore Plowman, and Van Byers. Interment, Brethern Cemetery, Batavia, Iowa.
