Anna M. Eich

Anna M. Van Dorn, daughter of the late Wm. and Sarah Van Dorn, was born in Bonaparte, Iowa, July 21, 1859. At the age of two years, she journeyed across the plains to Idaho where four years of her childhood were spent, returning to Bonaparte, Iowa, with her parents in 1865. Here she grew to womanhood and was married to Philip Eich on May 60(err), 1883.

The early married life was spent in Keosauqua and Milton later returning to Bonaparte and remaining there until 1902, at which time they moved to Des Moines, then to Minneapolis and thence to California. After a year spent in the golden west they returned to Omaha, Nebraska, where they husband passed into the great beyond April 3, 1910. The family returned to San Jose, California, where Mrs. Eich fell asleep Jan. 8 after months of intense suffering. Always patient and self sacrificing she bore her pain in silence lest her dear ones grieve at her suffering.

In early life she united with the Presbyterian church and always derived great comfort from the teachings of her Master. She leaves to mourn their loss, a daughter, Etta Tate, and a son, Leo F. Eich, together with a grandson, Marion Tate, to all of whom she was devotion itself. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and neighbors as well as in the little family circle that has been made desolate by the passing of a loving mother.

Services were conducted in San Jose Jan. 11, 1915, by her pastor, the Rev. G.I. Long, and the remains were tenderly laid to rest in "Oak Hill" beneath a profusion of flowers that gave mute testimony to the regard in which she was held.
