OBITUARY

Helen A. Kopriva was born April 10, 1914 in Carroll Township, Tama County, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Vera (Podhajsky) Zmolek. Helen received her education in country school and on November 21, 1933 she was united in marriage to Joseph Kopriva at Clutier, Iowa. Helen and Joe made their home farming all their married life on a farm 3-1/2 miles southeast of Traer until retiring to town in September of 1967.

After Joe's death on December 13, 1971 Helen continued to make her home in Traer. More recently she has been a patient at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo where her death came on Saturday, February 19, 2000 at the age of 85 years.

She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and Rosary Society, Traer American Legion Auxiliary and was a Gold Star Mother. She also did volunteer work at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, one son John in 1969, one daughter Pat Hulme in 1989, one grandson Stephen in 1972 and one brother Edward Zmolek in 1989. She is survived by three sons, LeRoy of Decorah, IA, Joe and Janice of Traer and Larry and Leta of Toledo, lA, three daughters JoAnn Kopriva of Traer, Verna and Gordon Staveley of Salt Lake City, Utah and Beverly and Gene Rund of Traer, two sisters, Mary Chizek and Lucy Adamek both of Traer, 29 grandchildren, 30 great 4 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren.

Immediately following the services family and friends are invited to the Traer Memorial Building for a time of food and fellowship.
