Chet Stofferan age 53 of Sibley, Iowa died Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the Osceola Regional Health Center in Sibley.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with the family present at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 4, 2024, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Sibley, IA, with Father Siby Punnoose as celebrant.

Burial will follow in the St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Sibley.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.

Chet Dean Stofferan was born May 9, 1971, in Sheldon, IA, the son of Mary (Lode) Fanning and Vernon (Jim) Stofferan. Chet grew up and attended schools in Sanborn, IA, Everly, IA, Windom, MN, and Orange City, IA.

Chet worked for Caldwell Pack, Gateway 2000, was a construction worker on new elevators, and is currently employed by M & S Drainage Tile Inc.

On September 1, 2007, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Ann Wessels at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Sibley, IA. The couple made their home in Sibley.

Chet enjoyed a NASCAR race in Charlotte, NC, a trip to the Black Hills, a road trip to Arizona, and an Iowa Hawkeye girls’ basketball game with Catlin Clark playing during a snowstorm in Iowa City, IA.

Becca was his everything, his eyes would light up when he talked about her. She was the love of his life. Chet’s hobbies in his younger years were playing with his many cousins, and living on an acreage with horses, dogs, and ducks. His current hobbies were playing with their cats, Jett and Tigger, and playing fetch and catch with their dog, Hawkeye. He loved to watch the New York Jets, Iowa Hawkeyes, Iowa State Cyclones, and Minnesota Twins. He loved sports and music. He was a Dodge Mopar man. Family was very important to him as well, he enjoyed spending time with everyone, especially with his nieces and nephews. Chet always had a helping hand, with his big heart, contagious smile, and unforgettable laugh.

Chet is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Rebecca Stofferan; two cats, Jett and Tigger; and a dog named, Hawkeye. Father and stepmother, Vernon (Jim) and Kim Stofferan of Orange City, IA; Mother and stepfather, Mary (Lode) and Michael Ray Fanning of Spirit Lake, IA; brother, Lynn (Anne) Stofferan and their two children, Avamia and Alynne all of Lake Elsinore, CA; sister, Dannette Fanning and her four children, Layne, Shania, Magan, and Peyton all of Milford, IA; brother, Michael Jr (Charlot) Fanning and their daughter, Hallie (Tim) McClure all of Argyle, MO; mother-in-law, Betty Jo Wessels of Sibley, IA; sister-in-law, Danelle (Joe) Williams and their son, Joseph all of Apple Valley, MN; and other extended family and many great friends.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Harold and Patricia Stofferan, Herman and Jennie Lode, and Verlis and Evelyn Fanning; and father-in-law, Daniel Wessels.
