Luella D. Loges age 92 of Boyden, Iowa died on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon, IA.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, October 9th at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Boyden, IA, with Pastor Jeremy Winter officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 7th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Boyden.

Luella Dora Anna Loges (Winter) spent her years as a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on October 5, 2024, at the age of 92.

She was born to Herman and Margaret (Heinsohn) Winter on November 11, 1931. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Boyden, Iowa and attended St. John Parochial School through eighth grade. She graduated from Sheldon High School in Sheldon, Iowa in 1950.

Luella stayed home helping on the farm until she married Elmer Loges on December 1, 1954. They farmed northwest of Boyden, Iowa until 1971 when Elmer started work at the Farmer’s Coop in Boyden. At this time, they moved to an acreage south of George, Iowa. Luella worked for K-Products in Rock Rapids, Iowa for 15 years. She also enjoyed gardening and working with flowers of all kinds.

Soon after Elmer passed away in 2000, Luella moved to Boyden, Iowa. She spent some time working for Den Hoed’s greenhouse until she retired. Once retired, she volunteered as a foster grandparent in the kindergarten class at Boyden-Hull Elementary School for 10 years. She was affectionately known as “Grandma Lou”. Soon thereafter, in February of 2021, Luella moved to Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa.

Luella is survived by her seven children Darrell Loges, Duane (Heidi) Loges, Lynnette (Gene) DeVos, Brenda (Charles) Sereg, Dennis (Sandra) Loges, Doreen (Jerry) Swanson and Renita (Bob) Miller; along with seventeen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Norven Winter; two sisters-in-law, Ileen Meyer and Leona (Paul) Marco; as well as many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Margaret Winter; her husband of 45 years, Elmer Loges; siblings, August (Marie) Winter, Louise (Ray) Uilk, Meta (Paul) Fick, Hilda (Herman) Uilk, Elsie (Alfred) Fick, infant brother Gerhardt Winter, Alvin Winter, and Ruben (Louise) Winter; sister-in-law, Delores Winter; brother-in-law, Marvin Meyer; and special friend, Eldon Reyelts.
