Donald Eugene Geels, born on February 13, 1941, in Ireton, Iowa, peacefully passed away on October 29, 2023. He was the beloved son of James and Bertha Geels.

Donald's academic journey began at Calvin College, where he cultivated a passion for philosophy. His pursuit of knowledge led him to Indiana University, where he earned a Ph.D. in philosophy. Donald shared his intellectual gifts with students at Butler University and Indiana State University during his teaching career.

Following his dedicated service in academia, Donald embarked on a new chapter, transitioning to a fulfilling career in real estate. His business acumen and genuine approach endeared him to many.

A voracious reader with an insatiable curiosity for history, Donald found solace and joy in the pages of countless books. One of Donald's greatest joys in life was his love for horses, with a special place in his heart reserved for his beloved companion, Holly. The bond they shared was a testament to the depth of Donald's affection for All animals, large and small.

In 1977, Donald married the love of his life, Carol Kester. Their union blessed them with a daughter, Christina, in 1990. Donald's love for his daughter was immeasurable, and his devotion to her was unwavering. Christina, now residing in Bloomington with her partner, Zachery, continues to carry forward the legacy of her father's love and values.

Donald is survived by his sister, Clarice Geels, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, who shares in the grief of his passing. Together, they built a lifetime of memories that will forever be cherished.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 14th from 6-8pm at Nick's English Hut, upstairs in The Attic. Please join us for a drink, some great conversations, and to celebrate a beloved father, husband, and friend.

In remembrance of a life well-lived, Donald Eugene Geels will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace.
